Susan Boyle has revealed she still takes the bus because she doesn't want people to think fame has changed her.
The 52-year-old Scottish singer admitted to OK! magazine that her life has completely changed sinceBritain's Got Talent propelled her to fame in 2009, but she hasn't let it go to her head.
Susan said: "Life professionally has changed immeasurably. I've had the most brilliant four years and I don't want it to end. I've met some amazing people, sung with true superstars, travelled the world and had a ball.
"However, at home when I close the front door, I'm still the same old Susan.
"I like to take the bus and do my own food shopping. I still live in the house I grew up in. That way I'm able to control changes.
"I don't want anybody thinking I've got too big for my boots."
Despite admitting being in the spotlight can be tough at times, Susan insists she wouldn't change a thing.
She said: "It's changed for the better without a shadow of a doubt. I'm loving every moment of it. Yes, you have wobbles still and worry it's going to end or you're not good enough, but those are few and far between.
"An additional bonus is that now I don't have to worry about how I'm going to pay the gas and electric bills."

While Susan has sold millions of records around the World, she has decided to try her hand at acting, making her big screen debutalongsideSylvester McCoy and John Hannah in the movie The Christmas Candle.

Susan has opened up about starring in The Christmas Candle, which has already finished filming, admitting that she had a great time making the movie, despite the odd negative.
Boyle was chatting to The Daily Record about her acting debut, when she explained, "That was great fun, we filmed it in March and I think it’s out in November. It was hard work, but I really enjoyed it."

However, she did admit to not being a big fan of the costumes for the film, "I tell you though, those costumes were really tight, I was turning blue. It was cold and the dress was not very well insulated either so I had to use a hot water bottle," she added.
Eric Newman and Candace Lee wrote the script for The Christmas Candle, while John Stephenson directs the film. The Christmas Candleis expectedto be out in time for Christmas this year.

The STV showbiz reporter was watching the Britain’s Got Talent sensation rehearse ahead of her first tour.
And Laura — who is battling chronic myeloid leukaemia — was stunned when I Dreamed a Dream star SuBo, 52, invited her to join her singing Tina Turner hit River Deep Mountain High.
Thrilled Laura, 32, revealed in her blog: “I am awful at singing, but it truly was a magical moment and something I will treasure forever.
“Thank you Susan — like you, I Dreamed a Dream and it came true.

I often get asked to talk at charity events about what it’s like living with cancer and I always start with the story of how I was diagnosed.
Many of you will have heard this before (apologies), but in 2009, in my role as a showbiz reporter for STV, I spent months covering the story of Susan Boyle’s incredible rise to fame.
I wrote numerous articles about her every move, from that renowned BGT audition, to her travels to America. I went and met with a Japanese film crew and American fans, who flew all the way to Blackburn to soak up Susan Boyle fever, all the while covering her progress on Britain’s Got Talent.
I have never known interest in a star like it.
Come September, I was exhausted. I thought it was because work had been crazy but, after blood tests, I received the devastating news that I had cancer – chronic myeloid leukaemia to be exact.
The next six months went by in a blur and work was just a distant thought at that time.
The Susan story continued and, as she quickly became a global superstar, other than a quick chat on the phone, I never got to talk or interview her as the illness took over my life.
The following year I returned to work, with my cancer managed by ‘miracle’ chemotherapy tablets.
I watched Susan blossom from this quiet church singer in Blackburn to this record-breaking recording artist and I always hoped that one day I would get to interview her.
On a rainy bank holiday on May 27 2013, my dream came true, when I was invited to watch Susan rehearse for her forthcoming solo tour AND chat to the star.
It was a miserable day and, as always in Scotland, wardrobe dilemmas ensued, but I knew I had to wear red, as some lovely American fans I met told me they all wear red scarves whenever they go to see her. I didn’t have a scarf, so a dress was the next best thing.
The first thing that struck me was how warm and inviting the people who worked with Susan are. This is a rare occurrence in the music industry but it was lovely to see that Susan is in good hands and they couldn’t have been more welcoming to me.
I was invited to watch her perform three tracks that she hopes will feature in the concert, including the iconic I Dreamed a Dream.
It honestly did send a shiver down my spine and I truly felt privileged to practically have my own private concert from Susan!
Next it was time for the interview, and the 52-year-old was open, relaxed and refreshingly honest.
We laughed about a mutual appreciation of One Direction star Harry Styles and chatted about whether she will be taking the show on the road and heading to Las Vegas.
Then, at the end, I thanked Susan for allowing me to have a special insight into her day, explaining about my diagnosis and why it had meant so much to me.
It sounds strange I know, but, for me, that period of work when Susan hit the headlines in 2009 represents my last real memories of life before cancer - when everything was ‘normal’, if you like.
To finally get to meet her was very emotional for me.
Susan gave me a massive hug and I was thrilled to have spent such a special hour in her company.
Then, my dream came true – Susan invited me to sing with her!
I had heard her rock a rousing rendition of Tina Turner’s River Deep Mountain High, in rehearsal and explained that that was my karaoke song (admittedly this is usually after one or two glasses rose wine).
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that five minutes later I would be singing it with Susan, complete with her full band.
Now I am awful at the singing part, but, it truly was a magical moment and something I will treasure forever: singing (and dancing) with Susan Boyle!
Susan’s record label have invited me along to the opening of her tour and I can not wait to see her take to the stage as I know it is going to be an incredible show.

SHE’S been a talent show star and a YouTube sensation.
She’s played for the Pope and belted out the greats with the greats.
And now, for the first time, Susan Boyle is hitting the road with a 90-minute live show – taking in five venues and seven gigs.
On a rain-soaked Glasgow afternoon, I join her in the rehearsal studio as she gets down to work with her six-piece backing band.
And it’s clear the phenomenon nicknamed SuBo can’t wait to get out on stage.
During a break in proceedings, I watch as she larks about with the band’s instruments.
For a laugh, the band strike up the Pink Panther theme. Instantly, the world’s most famous singing Scot has us all in stitches as she picks up the beat and starts dancing round the room.
Clearly, she’s full of beans.
Susan, 52, says, “I feel I’m in the zone and ready for it. In fact, I’m more than ready.
“It’s very important to be accepted in your own homeland though, and I do feel accepted in my homeland. I’m definitely doing the tour, there’s no maybes about it.
“I sang with Donny Osmond in March this year and it was around that time I started to think I was ready and made my mind up to do more live work. I got a real taste for it.
“It all feels a bit surreal but I can get used to anything.”
And as if to prove the point, she treats us to an impromptu rendition of I Dreamed a Dream – the song that catapulted her to fame four years ago.
There’s no TV audience and no judges this time. But the effect is no less awesome.
It’s hardly news that Susan can sing, but experiencing the full feeling and power at close quarters is something special.
She feels as if she is in the form of her life and, on this evidence, she’s absolutely right.

After four mega-selling albums, the nervous singer of Britain’s Gone Talent fame is gone – this is a performer brimming with confidence.
Yet, modest as ever, she refers to herself still as a “wee wifie from Blackburn”. She says: “I feel very privileged and lucky to be able to do this and as long as the public want me, I’ll be here.”
Now she’s gracing theatres she had to pay to get into a few years ago. Susan says: “I used to go into Edinburgh a lot to catch musicals at the Festival Theatre, it’s very big.
“I could never have imagined I’d be playing there one day. I never thought I’d ever get this far.” It matters to Susan that this, her first tour, is seven dates in Scotland. She says: “You have to have your family and friends around you, that’s very important.”
The Boyle clan will play a big part in her tour with sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins all attending at least one gig.
The tour will be poignant, as the family are still mourning the death of her brother James earlier this month.
Susan says: “I like to think he’ll be there with me though, he’s always with me. We’re a very close family and stick together.
“I think he would be very proud and full of encouragement for what I’m doing.”
The Susan of old might have been fretting about the tour. But not now.
She explains: “You must have that ability to switch off the ordinariness and go into professional mode, get in the zone and I think I’m a lot better at that now than I used to be.
“You need to be able to switch off from all your worries, leave them behind, go away and enjoy yourself.”
The set list is a secret for the time being. “It’s been a process of elimination – some things work, some things don’t.
“The only thing I’ve ruled out are rock numbers – I’m not a rock chick and don’t even have the big hair.”
It’s not just the tour which has her excited.

Susan makes her film debut this year with a moving period drama in which she sings several original songs.
At the same time, work continues on the big budget movie based on her life story. Then there’s work on her fifth studio album.
And she’s delighted to have adopted a lemur at Five Sisters Zoo – the West Lothian animal park devastated by fire last month. She’s thinking of calling it SuBo.
Susan will also be helping out at the Special Olympics this summer. “I like to be able to help and I hope to go down to Bath in August as an ambassador and maybe sing for them.”
Her acting debut will be A Christmas Candle, where she stars alongside fellow Scots like James Cosmo, John Hannah and Sylvester McCoy in a festive tale.

That’s Susan for you – global megastar but as down to earth as ever. One of her co-stars in A Christmas Candle is Samantha Barks, Eponine in the big screen version of Les Miserables.
Producer Cameron Mackintosh said the film would never have happened if Susan had not sung the anthem I Dreamed a Dream on BGT.
Mackintosh said: “The touchpaper was lit by Susan Boyle. When she sang I Dreamed a Dream it crossed a boundary. A tune that had been lurking there for years started connecting with people in a non-theatrical way.”
And Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway, whose character Fantine sings the number, hailed Susan as “wonderful and adorable”.
The woman herself blushes at such incredible praise when I mention it and is lost for words for a moment.
But she does admit that I Dreamed a Dream is one song that’s a definite for the tour. And with that, the superstar is back to work.
“I feel I’m ready enough now,” she says over her shoulder, “and I want to share it all with other people.”
