Susan Boyle set for special Moment with Donny Osmond in Glasgow

Susan Boyle thrilled fans who turned up to watch Donny and Marie Osmond perform on Sunday at London’s O2 Arena, as she took to the stage to sing a duet with her hero.
The former Britain’s Got Talent star has made no secret of the fact she adores Donny and she was delighted to record two tracks with the singer for her album,Standing Ovation, last year.
Now, Susan is set to see another dream come true as she takes to the stage with Donny in Scotland, at Glasgow’s SECC.
Playing to the home crowd has always been a joy for Susan but doing so alongside someone she greatly admires, and has done since she was in her teens, makes it even more special.
Donny is just as pleased to have Susan as his special guest. He told the Evening Times: "Since we recorded together last year, my regard for her has only grown and I'm looking forward to performing with her in two cities that mean so much to both of us and our careers.
“The show is already jammed, and what could be a better addition than Susan Boyle?"
Ahead of Standing Ovation’s release, Susan spoke of the moment she found out Donny Osmond had agreed to record All I Ask of You and This is the Moment with her.
The Blackburn belter said: “Well I didn’t believe it at first. I thought they were pulling my leg! ‘Yeah, yeah,’ I remember saying, but when I met him for the first time in the recording studio it became a different story! I was so excited!”
The pair bonded over their cheeky sense of humour, and Susan explained: “Donny has an outrageous sense of humour and was great fun to work with. He was a pleasure to work with, for someone who’s been in the industry for 50 years, since he was a wee boy. I couldn’t believe how down to earth he was. Totally professional, he taught me some great things in the studio and I was honoured to be working with my childhood idol. In fact I was a little nervous to be performing with him.
“I didn’t think for a second I was good enough to be performing alongside someone of Donny’s calibre. He’s a legend and well I only see myself as semi-professional these days so it felt a tad odd being with him in the studio.”
As Susan took to the stage on Sunday – she was far from ‘semi-professional’. Scotland can’ t wait to welcome you home, Susan.

Susan Boyle’s brother planning SuBo-themed tearoom

Gerry Boyle's latest scheme involves a tearoom
Gerry Boyle's latest scheme involves a tearoom
SINGING sensation Susan Boyle will have a set of
tearooms named in her honour at the former Odeon cinema on Clerk Street as part of an ambitious relaunch of the historic building.
Plans to open the upstairs tearooms as a “pet project” for SuBo were revealed by brother and businessman Gerry Boyle as his ambitions to reopen the mothballed venue took a step forward as the way was cleared for him to apply for planning permission.
Mr Boyle is planning to rebrand the building as The Instant Arena and run Las Vegas-themed cabaret shows out of the building’s main art deco auditorium.
He said his celebrity sister, who rocketed to fame on Britain’s Got Talent,
had been supportive of the project and that he had wanted to do something in return to recognise her success.
He said: “We’re all very proud of her as a family, so why not? She’d expressed in the past that she’d like to have some sort of tearoom interest, so we said ‘we’ve got the premises, why don’t you do that?’
“She’ll be popping in and out. Obviously, her schedule means she won’t always be in Edinburgh, but it’s, if you can imagine, a wee pet project and she’ll be quite happy with that.”
The concept will be modelled on the renowned Betty’s chain from Yorkshire that has been running for nearly 100 years.
High tea, Swiss confectionery and baked delights like fondant fancies and macaroons would all be sold at the Susan Boyle Tea Room.
The singer, known for her rendition of
I Dreamed A Dream, has
spoken of her love for an
honest mug of milky tea in the Mill Cafe, just around the corner from her family home in Blackburn, West Lothian.
Mr Boyle pointed out the tearooms would represent a genuine drawcard for tourists, saying: “Don’t forget that she’s absolutely adored in America.
“We’re very grateful for that, and I would imagine that there’s quite a few Americans who would like to come over to Edinburgh and visit the arena and the Susan Boyle Tea Room.
“What we’re going to do with the tearoom is in the evening, after 6pm when traditionally tea’s over, it flips over to being a restaurant where people can visit at night in connection with the shows themselves.”
The council last week granted a certificate of lawfulness to Mr Boyle’s company, An Instant World, that will allow it to proceed with plans for the Clerk Street building. A champagne bar, coffee lounge and two ground-floor cinema screens will be reopened, with site owner
Duddingston House Properties backing the proposals.
The plans will guarantee the 1930s building, which was A-listed in April last year, will be restored to its former glory after sitting derelict for a
decade.
The cinema officially closed in August 2003.
Mr Boyle nominated
August 2 as the planned date for the grand reopening.
The filmhouse held film premieres for Sean Connery’s
Diamonds Are Forever and Mel Gibson’s Braveheart during its heyday, and Mr Boyle said he wanted the venue to again host those kinds of A-list events.
He said: “We can do premieres there. We’re doing Friday, Saturday and Sunday events. The more big names we have, the better.”
A television documentary about the venue’s transformation ahead of its reopening is also in the pipeline. City economy committee convener Councillor Frank Ross said: “It’s a fantastic art deco building and naturally we are pleased it’s being brought back into use. It will provide a welcome boost to the local economy.”
Britain’s Got Tea-lent
SO, what will be on the menu at Susan Boyle’s tearoom?
We had a bash at a possible SuBo-themed menu:
• I Dreamed a cream tea
• Ant and Dec-cles cake
• Black(burn) Forest gateau
• Susan’s-a-millionaire shortbread
• The Diversi-tea
And that could all be washed down with
• A bottle of SuBolinger

Posted by Boarding Area on Twitter

After I posted about my disappointing experience in the Concorde Room I got up to leave, only to realize that seated right next to me all along was Susan Boyle. Susan “I dreamed a dream” Boyle. I nearly fainted, so sat right back down even though I was running late for my flight. She was wearing pearls the size of tennis balls, and made Flavor Flav look like he was modest. She did seem very nice, though…
Below is the best picture I could snap (partly because I was shaking like a dog when they know they’re going to the vet).
I’d be curious to hear what you guys think. If you see someone famous in the lounge, do you just let them have their privacy, or do you think it’s appropriate to tell them they’re awesome and/or ask for a picture with them?

We're bringing Vegas to Glasgow

FORMER teen idol Donny Osmond, now 55, is busier than ever.
Donny and Marie Osmond stage their hit US show at the SECC -- and have invited Susan Boyle to be a special guest
Donny and Marie Osmond stage their hit US show at the SECC -- and have invited Susan Boyle to be a special guest
He's just defied his "chronic" jetlag to get up at 4am to appear on breakfast TV before completing a series of interviews, almost simultaneously chasing up matters back in the US.
Of course, talking about yourself and going on telly to promote your forthcoming tour isn't the hardest job, but Osmond wouldn't suggest it is.
"I'm enjoying myself, more and more. I like to work hard, and I get that from my dad. He was an army sergeant, tough and strict. He wasn't Joe Jackson, I don't want to paint that picture," he says, referring to the fearsome father of Michael and his siblings.
Seeing him now, with an award-winning Las Vegas show, it's odd to think he and Michael Jackson were once rivals. They were both the young focal point of their hugely successful family vocal groups before branching out on their own to become teen idols. But all didn't go well for Osmond after that.
"It's no secret that I lost my career in the 80s so I worked hard to get it back," he says.
"And second time around you know what it's like when things do slip away. I really don't want it to happen again. There are some big lessons, and that was a bad time of my life."
These were his wilderness years; too old to be a teen idol and unable to make the transition to grown-up pop star.
It wasn't until 1989's Soldier Of Love that things started to turn around, but that came after years of little attention and thoughts of packing it in.
What else he would have done, he's not sure, although with a love and great knowledge of IT, Osmond thinks it could have involved computers.
"Can you imagine the guy who sang Puppy Love coming to your house to fix your PC?" he says, laughing.
"To be honest, I don't know what I would've done. What's nice is that I had a lot of time to think about it all, and I really appreciate what I've got now.
"I was watching One Direction recently and I just hope they appreciate everything they have in their career. It's not going to last forever.
"I hope Justin Bieber is loving every moment of his career. That level can't be sustained.
"No matter how great your music is, the attention span of the public is that of a gnat, and it's getting shorter and shorter."
Despite this, Osmond has earned a degree of longevity.
Even if he and the rest of his family aren't surrounded by the same levels of hysteria they once were, the queue of autograph hunters waiting for him outside the TV studio we're sitting in is a reminder of his status.
There will also be new fans coming to the Osmond party thanks to his and sister Marie's Vegas show. They've been performing there five nights a week since June 2010 and are bringing the show to the UK.
"I love the UK and always have, but I haven't been able to get here as often as I'd have liked over the past few years," he says. "The Vegas show ties me down. But we get a lot of people from the UK coming to see us in Vegas, so it was only right that we brought it here. It'll be the same show, and much more.
"We play to a 750-seat room each night there, but we're doing arenas on this tour so everything will be bigger. We've beefed everything up."
BRITAIN'S Got Talent winner Susan Boyle will be joining him and his sister on stage for the London and Glasgow gigs.
Osmond first saw Boyle on Britain's Got Talent.
"Since we recorded together last year, my regard for her has only grown and I'm looking forward to performing with her in two cities that mean so much to both of us and our careers. The show is already jammed, and what could be a better addition than Susan Boyle?"
As well as duets in the show, Donny and Marie will sing their solo hits, including her Paper Roses and his Puppy Love.
"That song!" he says, smiling. "Once upon a time I would've said I'd sung it too many times. I hated it at one time. But now? I'd say I haven't sung it enough.
"There will be some Osmonds songs on this tour too – Love Me For A Reason, Crazy Horses and things – plus special stuff on big video screens behind us. I don't want to give too much away."
Between 1976 and 1979 Donny and Marie hosted their own variety show on US TV, simply called Donny And Marie. Before that The Osmonds had been one of the Seventies' most popular and busiest touring bands.
"I'll be walking down the street and someone will say 'Hi, where's Marie?' and I reply 'I don't know.' We're not in each other's pockets, she has her life in Vegas, I have mine in Utah and we only see each other on stage," he says.
"Don't get me wrong, we're close. We have our big family Christmases and Thanks-givings and so on, but we aren't all joined at the hip."

But our own Susan Boyle almost fell foul of the snow.
THE treacherous weather didn’t prevent America’s Donny and Marie Osmond starting their top notch UK tour in London on Sunday night.
The Scottish songstress’s flight was delayed, causing a certain amount of confusion at London’s O2 Arena.
When Donny introduced her at the same time as This Is The Moment, the song they duet on, he realised he wasn’t yet in the building so he seamlessly switched to another song a he waited the Britain’s Got Talent star.
