Susan Boyle Large Photos

This is an assortment of photos in large size, through the years. Not new to most, but not seen in these sizes before - I haven't 'enlarged' them, but found them large and in most cases had to resize somewhat smaller so they'd fit without requiring a scrollbar.

Posted in the Daily Record - Cat Harvey meets the Amazing Susan Boyle

Cat Harvey: I've met lots of stars.. but Susan Boyle was the most amazing of the lot

CAT has been lucky enough to meet loads of celebrities during her career but there was one star she could hardly wait to meet... Scotland's own Susan Boyle.
Down to earth: Susan Boyle
Down to earth: Susan Boyle
ONE of the great joys of working on radio is interviewing the artists hitting our airwaves – and I’ve just met a legend.
For every manufactured boyband, there’s a dozen artists who’ve grafted for years through the circuit for recognition and success.
No matter what your musical taste is, each has a unique story.
Recently X Factor’s Union J popped in and we couldn’t exit the car park for teens bunking off school to meet their heroes – who hadn’t even released a single at the time.
I’ve liked pretty much everybody who’s popped in this year, even the ones I didn’t expect to, another lesson in never judging a book by its cover.
Girl bands Little Mix and Stooshe – I loved you both.
I want to be Sharleen from Texas’s best pal, Gamu was super-intelligent as were the boys from Lawson, Union J were polite yet full of nonsense, The Proclaimers are a hoot while Deacon Blue and Travis are professional, courteous and charming.
However, there was one star I could not wait to meet face to face – the enigma that is Susan Boyle.
I can tell her visit is extraordinary when the unflappable girls from the news team put on lip-gloss for their Facebook photo opportunity.
I’ve followed her journey from THAT BGT audition in 2009 through the public meltdown, to her astonishing success.
I cried at Elaine C Smith’s tour de force performance of our heroine in I Dreamed A Dream and I cheered like a banshee when she sang like an angel at the King’s Theatre.
It’s hard to equate this caring yet complex, fiery yet fragile wee wifie from West Lothian with the true global sensation she’s become. It’s a heart-warming victory for the girl next door.
More than 19million album sales later and number ones in 40 different countries, SuBo is box office gold. She is also a wee sweetheart. She arrived not with London management but with lifelong friends Sadie and Lorraine. She brought a box of Thornton’s chocolates for us all to share.
She’d been delayed as she was shopping in the Glasgow Fort and a pensioner wanted a photo.
Susan obliged before singing Happy Birthday to the old lady in the shoe section of Next.
Her stories are a mix of bewilderment at her success and steely ambition to do well in her first ever solo tour next month. The juxtaposition between A-list and home-bird is momentous.
She’s played Vegas with Donny Osmond, Robert De Niro ran across a Hollywood red carpet to get his photo with her and she took her mate who cleans at Argos to see Elton John backstage.
Yet she loves home, her family, her cat and her pals. She’s also got a wicked sense of humour.
I’m on a one-woman mission to get kazoos more recognition in the music industry. Susan loved my £1.99 blowing instrument so much she sang I Dreamed A Dream to my raspy backing.
She laughed so hard I gave her my kazoo and she clutched it with childlike joy.
I am honoured my kazoo will be accompanying her on her world tour. I should have struck a deal – the KaSubo could be marketing genius.
Don’t go changing, Susan… you are perfect just the way you are.

Candace Lee - The Christmas Candle

Candace lights flame of Victorian Christmas movie

Screenwriter Candace Lee gave visitors to the CRE International a sneak preview of her forthcoming festive movie.
The Christmas Candle is set in a Cotswolds church in the 1890s and stars Hans Matheson, Samantha Barks, Sylvester McCoy, Lesley Manville, John Hannah and introduces Susan Boyle. Due for theatrical release this Christmas, the movie is based on a best-selling novel by Max Lucado.
'It is a Christian story, a story of hope and faith. These Advent themes are very much present in the film,' said Candace (pictured). 'Having God in their lives is something the community hope and believe in. Every believer can relate to that aspect of hope and faith throughout the film.'
The Christmas Candle was one of a number of movies showcased on Film Friday, a new addition to CRE International, Europe's leading annual exhibition of religious products and services.
'Film-makers love to receive five stars from the critics. We were delighted to get the same response from those attending Film Friday,' said Nick Pollard of the Damaris Trust. 'Plans are already in place for a sequel!'
Damaris launched its Film Clubs at CRE, offering churches and community groups priority access to free official resources for major Hollywood movies, invitations to advance screenings and many other benefits.

International Christian Resources Exhibition (CRE) - The Christmas Candle

Highlights of Sandown 2013

HIGHLIGHTS OF CRE INTERNATIONAL 2013

The number of visitors to CRE International increased marginally on 2012 with around 10,000, including the first-ever Pharisee (pictured) to come through the doors.
'As always, there was more to see on all three floors than even a holy man could shake a stick at!' said event organiser Bill Allen. 'Our visitor figures bucked the trend in difficult financial times for all exhibitions.'
The Pharisee seen striding the paddock area appeared as part of the Wintershall Players' open air life of Christ.
CRE show director Paul Langham, said: 'We are delighted our numbers are slightly up on 2012, though it is quality of visitor rather quantity that is always the key factor.'
First-time exhibitors Wash My Pink Jumper and Word of God Banners were full of praise for the four-day show.
'I came to the show to launch a business,' said Word of God Banners' Sally Prendergast. 'I have recouped my costs with just one commission and had a lot of firm enquiries. It has been a really good four days.'
Rod Gleasby of Wash My Pink Jumper believes it is vital to have an intriguing title and a service or product with which a number of people identify.
'We support young women who decide that living is more important than binge drinking,' he said. 'We have met dozens of people who are really concerned about the lifestyle of children and young people in their care, whether at home or in church circles.'
Former premiership footballer Linvoy Primus (pictured) called on churches to turn back the clock and do what they were doing in 1863. With the Football Association currently celebrating its 150th anniversary, Linvoy pointed to the way churches used the newly-constituted game to meet the needs of local communities. From church football teams came famous clubs, including Aston Villa, Barnsley and Southampton.
Opening the show, Linvoy said: 'Sport captivates a huge number of people. Young men, in particular, are drawn to football. We need to get back to the basics. If we are to reach our communities we must do it with an agenda that meets a need in the community. Our forefathers knew that. We must re-learn it.'
Linvoy, who played for Charlton, Barnet, Reading and Portsmouth, is part of a charity called Faith and Football, which runs educational, enterprise and outreach programmes with football at the heart of it all.
Before speaking at the show, Dr Tony Campolo (pictured) was interviewed at the House of Commons' Portcullis House at the invitation of Bible Society and Exposed2013. He addressed parliamentarians about the need to eradicate corruption.
The event was organised by Bible Society as part of the church-led Exposed campaign encouraging people to sign a Global Call to End Corruption. The campaign will culminate with a weeklong vigil from 14 to 20 October, with Christians around the world participating. Campolo demonstrated his support by adding his signature at the event.
Back at CRE, screenwriter Candace Lee gave visitors a sneak preview of her forthcoming festive movie.
The Christmas Candle is set in a Cotswolds church in the 1890s and stars Hans Matheson, Samantha Barks, Sylvester McCoy, Lesley Manville, John Hannah and introduces Susan Boyle. Due for theatrical release in the upcoming Christmas/ Advent period (late November and early December), the movie is based on a best-selling novel by Max Lucado.
'It is a Christian story, a story of hope and faith. These Advent themes are very much present in the film,' said Candace (pictured at the Damaris Film Clubs stand at CRE International). 'Having God in their lives is something the community hope and believe in. Every believer can relate to that aspect of hope and faith throughout the film.'

For the first time in its 29-year history, the show will be held four times in 2013 with upcoming events at Birmingham (3/4 Oct) and Edinburgh (27/28 Nov)

Susan Boyle: I still live with my mom

48-year-old housewife from Scotland for a long time had no luck in life: as a child at her laughing, after school she earned a pittance, but in 2009 the show "Britain's Got Talent," Boyle sang I Dreamed a Dream and became famous all over the world. The singer visited the St. Petersburg festival "White Nights" and gave an exclusive interview with Metro

Your first time in Russia? What do you know about our country?
- My first time here. You have a very nice, very nice and friendly people. About Russia only know that you have a very well developed opera and ballet.
You remember the feeling the first moment of glory?
- It all started with the show Britain's Got Talent («Britain's Got Talent") - was selected and I was incredibly lucky! It's just luck!(Laughs.)
You're a long time could not get on the show ...
- Yes ... I really tried to get into the show before. I tried very hard and was very happy when achieved what I wanted.
What was it like to feel popular?
- A little bit shocking. I am a very easy going person and do not like to put on display their private lives, and that it was a small accident, I had to go through .... But I'm used to! I have learned to cope with it all. And the main thing is - I remain the same person.
Something in your life has changed?
- I can not say that very much. I still live in the house of his mother.Yes, I had more pocket money (laughs) to buy yourself all sorts of interesting things. Around me was much more pleasant people ... And I had the opportunity to travel and because of this, my life has changed because I meet a lot of interesting people around the world.
What, in your opinion, a good man?
- Someone kind, responsive and has a good sense of humor - I could go on, but these qualities are basic.
And how would you describe yourself in a few words?
- Perhaps, fun (laughs). I love a good laugh!
What kind of music do you like?
- I like all styles, from classical to pop. Of artists I like Donny Osmond, because I like The Osmonds.
You can sing your favorite song?
- Well, I love River deep mountain high of Tina Turner. (Trolls, but awkwardly moves to laughter).
So much has happened in your life over the past few years ... What do you expect from the future?
- I just finished shooting the movie "Christmas Candle" - it will be released in the UK on November 29. I'm looking forward to the live shows, I'll do it for the first time. I will have a tour of Scotland - I hope that everything will turn out. These are steps on the way to a successful future.

Singer Susan Boyle housewife "Komsomolskaya Pravda": "So far, I love to experiment in the kitchen"

For three days, the northern capital occupied the world stars

"White Nights" in St. Petersburg - is not only an amazing natural phenomenon, but also an international music festival. This year it was 13, 14 and 15 June. From all over the world attended dozens of contestants. And teach beginners wits stars called monsters pop music: Paula Abdul, Lou Bega, Sarah Conor Jackson and Brothers.
"Michael is with us"
"Komsomolskaya Pravda" was able to talk with the stars of the first magnitude. One of the world's first teenage boy bands The Jackson 5, the one where he sang the young Michael Jackson , began performing in the 60's. Now known dyadechek call teenagers language does not turn. Musicians on stage for more than fifty years.
- Justin Bieber makes a lot of mistakes, because it is still young - said "KP" Jackie Jackson . - And we did them when they were young. In general, it is well done, will go far. But we were steeper.
- Yes, modern music is not the same - Jermaine picks. - More became mechanics and electronics or something. Live instruments are not so catchy. But we have not changed and we can truly "live rock", as before.
Five Jackson is no longer five and a four. Oh brother Michael remembers reluctantly. But they say that time with him were of gold, and his spirit was very much alive.
- A family business is not easy - continues to Jermaine Jackson . - But we have long since learned to cope with the difficulties. No quarrels and misunderstandings between us. We travel together for many years, we are a team. It's an incredible feeling when you're on stage. In another way, we can not live.

Monsters pop music played long - among the contestants just fifteen minutes on. Heroes of the festivals were not for them, and the young actors: from Argentina, Germany, Portugal and even from Peru. Russia was represented by a group of "Boycott". Young rockers on stage in St. Petersburg "Ice Palace" were among the best.

But the real sensation produced British singer Szan Boyle . 52-year-old woman who has won the hearts of millions with their incredible voice. In 2009, she won second place in the program Britain's Got Talent - an analogue of our "Minutes of Fame." Not having an outstanding appearance, Szan Boyle has evolved from a lonely housewife in one of the most popular singers in the world.
- I've always wanted to be a professional singer. After a lot of trial and error I have all turned out - told "Komsomolskaya Pravda" Susan Boyle . - The main thing to believe in themselves and fight. I want to give advice to your readers. We must always do what you want. Dreams can come true easily, look at me. Do not think that life is passing by. Try and get a lot of joy and pleasure in your life.
Susan is very modest, it seems she's still afraid of cameras and a large number of people. But before going on stage in time the former housewife knows how to assemble and tune.

- After the speech, I feel satisfied, but when speaking - focus Get maximum.
- How do you relax?
- I like to cook: you can easily fry "fish and chips" - laughingSusan . - Fish with chips is considered a classic English cuisine. But I prefer risotto. And in general I like to experiment in the kitchen.
Often the press instead of a shy Susan communicates her manager Andy. Their relationship is very warm and it is clear that without the support of others, Mrs. Boyle would be difficult to travel
- My team, I work with - like my family - admitted Susan. - They both critics and musicians, and friends. I love the sympathetic and kind people, and long conversations. And a sense of humor - it's very important to me.
- They say that many do not understand the English sense of humor?
- I think the thing humor International - Russia has many talented and wonderful people who make jokes and laugh no worse than the British.
In St. Petersburg, Susan jointly with the "Federation" in St. Petersburg, visited the hospital number 17. Here treat premature infants with extremely low birth weight. British singer presented the anesthetic machine. It will help kids survive.
- I have never before been in a children's hospital - was moved Susan Boyle. - It is important to help the children. I can see that. And I hope I did not just visit with Russian charity event.

Dreaming a dream to meet Susan Boyle

Florence woman admired “Britain’s Got Talent’ phenom from afar, then got to have tea and crumpets with her

FLORENCE, S.C. — Almost two years ago, Candy Melton had never heard of Susan Boyle, of “Britain’s Got Talent” fame. Yet just last month, she was sitting down to have tea and cookies with her at Boyle’s house in Blackburn, Scotland.
Boyle, a Scottish-born singer, leapt onto the world stage by captivating audiences with her performance on the talent show in 2009. Melton, 46, said she hadn’t really been a fan of the American version of the show but was taken aback when her 13-year-old daughter, Katie, showed her the video of Boyle on BGT.
“The first time I saw it I couldn’t believe it. I watched it over and over,” Melton said during an interview at her home in Florence. “No one makes Simon Cowell smile, but she made him smile right away.”
She said it was amazing how Boyle was met with criticism because of her looks and the funny way she talked but silenced all critics when she started to sing.
The more she found out about Boyle, the more her interest grew. Shortly after seeing the video, Melton joined a Susan Boyle Facebook fan group to meet other fans. Through the group, she met fellow fan 64 year-old Rita Degenova of Boston.
After about a month of talking on the Internet and by phone, Melton had an idea.
“I just asked Rita if she wanted to go meet Susan,” she said. “Right away, she said yes.”
Melton admits it was a little unusual never having met someone in person before planning a huge trip to Scotland. She hadn’t been away from her husband, Barry, in 27 years of marriage let alone out of the country. Melton said Barry eventually warmed up to the idea.
“I told her if we could save enough for it, she could go. She’s never really gone on a trip anywhere,” he said. “I could see it meant a lot to her, so we made it happen.”
It took her a year of planning and saving to pull it off. Melton admits there was an element of doubt in going with someone she had never met in person.
“You’re just not going to find people like that (Degenova) every day on the Internet,” she said. “We talked but there were things I didn’t say, not completely knowing her.”
Just in case, Melton decided to fly to Boston and stay with Degenova the night before leaving with her for Scotland. At that point, Melton said she was ready to abandon the trip if she and Degenova didn’t gel. They were to meet in the Boston airport for the first time, decked out in official Susan Boyle red scarves to recognize each other.
“We were the only ones crazy enough to walk around the airport with scarves on in the summer,” Melton said, laughing.
The two hit it off, flying out the next evening for a week without a guarantee they would even be able to see Boyle, let alone meet her. They arrived in Scotland on Mother’s Day. Before the trip, Melton met a friend of Boyle’s online who promised to try and set up a meeting, but there was no guarantee. At the time, Boyle was in the middle of recording her new CD and was involved in filming a movie. When she got to Edinburgh, the phone number for her contact wouldn’t work.
Instead of giving up, they decided to go to Boyle’s house anyway, “at least to say we did that,” Melton said. Upon returning to the hotel, 17 miles away, there was a message from her contact. When he went to go pick them up for dinner, he broke the news that they were actually going to meet with Boyle.
“Rita and I started pinching each other because we couldn’t believe we were going to meet her,” she said.
When they arrived at her house in Blackburn, the two were greeted with a big smile and Boyle welcoming them in, saying, “Come on in, I won’t bite cha,” in her thick Scottish dialect.
For more than an hour, Melton, Degenova and Boyle talked and had tea and cookies. In anticipation of the meeting, Melton bought a set of original 35 year-old Donnie and Marie Osmond dolls to give to Boyle because she knew Boyle had idolized Donnie since she was 13 years old. Last year, Boyle sung a duet with Donnie on the show “Dancing With the Stars,” then toured with the duo.
“She loved them,” Melton said.
The women also gave Boyle a locket with a picture of Boyle and her mother inside. Immediately, Boyle put the locket on her necklace with her mother’s wedding ring.
“Just the other day, I saw her wearing it on a video. I was shocked,” Melton said.
After exchanging pleasantries and getting some souvenirs of her own, including an autograph in Boyle’s biography “The Woman I Was Born to Be,” Melton and Degenova left feeling exuberant.
Melton said she’s never felt about anything or anyone the way she feels about Boyle. She feels like she can identify with her because Melton was bullied as a child, much like Boyle.
“Her story just clicked with me. She’s an inspiration and I feel like I can identify with her,” she said. “She hasn’t let fame and fortune change her.”
Melton said she and newfound best friend are trying to plan another trip next year
