Susan Boyle delighted Donny Osmand fans who turned up to watch the star perform, along with his sister Marie, on Friday night (February 1) at Glasgow’s SECC.
The former Britain’s Got Talent star joined her childhood hero on stage and gave him an extra special gift to welcome him to her homeland – a tartan scarf and tie.
Donny looked thrilled with the kind gesture from the singing sensation, he’s now proud to call a friend.
Susan didn’t say much as she dazzled the delighted Donny and Marie fans, but then she didn’t have to – she let her much-loved voice do the talking.
The Blackburn belter joined Donny for a confident rendition of This is the Moment, which was met with rapturous applause from the crowd.
It’s not the first time Susan has taken to the stage with American heartthrob Donny.
She has dueted the star on quite a few occasions, citing her performances with him in LA and then Las Vegas as both “magical and nerve wracking.”
Susan also admitted Donny gave her some valuable advice about her career, saying: “He told me to enjoy every moment of my career and stop fretting about what is going to happen next.” Wise words indeed.
Alongside singing for the Pope and the Queen, another career highlight for Susan was when Donny agreed to duet with her on her album, Standing Ovation.
Recalling the moment record label bosses broke the news, Susan said: “Well I didn’t believe it at first. I thought they were pulling my leg! ‘Yeah Yea’ I remember saying but when I met him for the first time in the recording studio it became a different story! I was so excited!”
Speaking of their close friendship, she continued: “Donny has an outrageous sense of humour and was great fun to work with. He was a pleasure to work with, for someone who’s been in the industry for 50 years, since he was a wee boy. I couldn’t believe how down to earth he was. Totally professional, he taught me some great things in the studio and I was honoured to be working with my childhood idol. In fact I was a little nervous to be performing with him. I didn’t think for a second I was good enough to be performing alongside someone of Donny’s calibre. He’s a legend and well I only see myself as semi professional these days so it felt a tad odd being with him in the studio.”

Les Miserables (2012) - Official International Trailer [HD] - 1080p

Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle credited with inspiring Les Misérables movie!

February 3rd, 2013 by TV Writer Lynn.

It’s been reported today that theater producer Cameron Mackintosh has credited former Britain’s Got Talent winner Susan Boyle as having inspired the blockbuster movie version of Les Misérables.

EW report that Mackintosh explained that Susan’s BGT victory, and her hit cover of I Dreamed A Dream, gave the stage version of the show a “real kick.”
He said, “The [Les Mis stage] show was doing pretty well at the time, but it suddenly had a real kick into it…

“I could see a whole pile of new people who wouldn’t necessarily have thought to come and see the show went, ‘Oh, that’s where that song comes. les miserablesI think I’ll go and see it.’
“And that was of course closely followed by the 25th anniversary concert and the new 25th anniversary production I did, all of which led to Hollywood being interested in making a movie of it.

“[Boyle] absolutely was the trigger to a series of things that happened that made this the right moment to do Les Miserables in the cinema.

“I certainly think Susan Boyle made that song far more famous than anybody else had managed to do.

“I’ve always said we owe her a great debt. It was one of those great miracles that nobody could ever plan.”

And The Sun adds, “The stage version of Les Miserables — created by Mackintosh — had been running for 23 years when Scot SuBo appeared on BGT. The film is tipped to win Oscars.”

Here’s the movie’s trailer…

BLOCKBUSTER Les Miserables would never have been made into a film if it was not for SUBO, it has been revealed.

Theatre impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh said the moment Susan Boyle, 51, wowed Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 with her version of I Dreamed A Dream from the musical was a “trigger”.

It convinced movie bosses the time was right for a big budget film.

Sir Cameron said: “I’ve always said we owe her a great debt. It was one of those great miracles that nobody could ever plan.”

The stage version of Les Miserables — created by Sir Cameron — had been running for 24 years when SuBo, from Blackburn, West Lothian, appeared on BGT.

Sir Cameron said her choice of song made it more well known than ever before. He added: “The show got a real kick. People who wouldn’t necessarily have come went, ‘Oh, that’s where that song comes from — I’ll go and see it.

Susan triggered a series of things that made this the right moment to do Les Mis in the cinema.”

Sir Cameron launched his show, about a 19th century French peasant, in London’s West End in 1985.

The film version — starring Anne Hathaway — has been tipped for a string of Oscars.

Susan Boyle has her moment with Donny and Marie Osmond

Donny and Marie: It Takes TwoJason Sheldon/Rex Features

With women of a certain age screaming, Colgate smiles, true American tan and more sequins than Honey Boo Boo Child tearing up a pageant, famous sibling duo, Donny (scream now if you have to) and Marie Osmond brought their Las Vegas cabaret extravaganza to Glasgow.
Starting the all-seated, but all leaping to their feet party with It Takes Two, enough backing dancers for Broadway bounded onto the stage, weaving in and out of the squeaky clean siblings, here to celebrate their five decades in show business.
With video montages of their younger years filling a super-sized screen at the peak of the set up, the crowd of manic fans were suddenly in the closest thing to a time machine, throwing anything that they could in the air as part of their cheering process, in some cases their own offspring.
The show was taken over by Marie, and tended to move in solo segments for the remainder of the evening, with the two siblings more apart than together. With Donny only having to walk on stage to get a hot flush moving around the crowd like a Mexican wave, it was his younger sister who pulled out the most impressive moves with her vocal chords and old school entertainment values.
Strutting in to a rendition of Walk This Way with her own glittery flying M-guitar, Marie had her wardrobe designer and daughter Rachel Kreuger on hand to remove her from a pair of cowboy boots and into some 'more appropriate' glitter encrusted platforms. Throwing in some big ballgame style theatrics, two fans in just about back row seats won front row tickets and backstage passes, the 53-year-old inviting them to 'come on down'.
In this first and most entertaining section of the show, the husband of one fan, Dave McCallion, was hauled on to the stage, coaxed in to dancing and singing with Marie, and finally granted backstage passes. This man has certainly won some pints at the pub points from his wife, for his fearless Patsy Cline impression.
With a cocktail of genres making the show, Pie Jesu was performed to showcase the only sister of the Osmond clan's operatic range, her sparkling soprano pulling the crowd to their feet as quickly as a wink from her brother.
Speaking of which, Crazy Horses and a body popping dance routine had Donny requiring a seat, with some Puppy Love thrown in for good measure whilst he was in this position. Where his sister had a custom made guitar as her prop, Donny had our very own Susan Boyle who was just as sequinned as the Swarovski Crystal covered 6-string. Led on to the stage by her very own poster-pinup, and now friend, the pair sung together on This Is The Moment, the home crowd loving the appearance of their very own 'Su Bo'.
Blowing kisses to fans and pulling everyone to their feet at a wave of an arm, Su Bo didn't have much to say for herself, but gifted Donny with a tartan scarf and tie, before being guided off of the stage.
With musicals thrown in to the mix, Donny and Marie ran through another medley of songs, with the second half of the non-stop show reserved for fan favourites.
Love Me For A ReasonMake The World Go Away, and Remember When stirred up the nostalgia factor, before Donny And Marie show closer, May Tomorrow Be A Perfect Day, had fans and Osmonds alike looking tired and emotional.
It's no wonder after 50 years were crammed into a lengthy two and a half hours of non-stop action. Donny and Marie may be closer to retirement age these days, but they definitely still know how to entertain.
