The 83-year-old has another big date to look forward to – a gig at the Royal Albert Hall to support his new album, These Are My Favourites.
“I’ll play there in May, after I have been on my three-month winter break. It will be a lot of the music from the album, some comedy and I’m sure there will be the odd special guest.”
Perhaps Susan Boyle could do a turn? “She is wonderful,” he says. “I saw her at Pride Of Britain last year and she had a quality about her voice that was really very special indeed.”
But he won’t be promoting the show or his album on Twitter, saying: “I can handle emails but I don’t think I’ll be a tweeter. It would take up too much time. It is like soap operas. I don’t watch them because if you do, you get hooked.”
