Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle to make recording history by singing a duet with Elvis for her new Christmas album!
September 8th, 2013 by Lynn Connolly.
It’s been reported today that Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle is set to make history as she’s about to record a song with the sadly demised music icon, Elvis Presley!
It will of course happen via the somewhat magical – and possibly creepy – jiggery pokery of the sort that saw a hologram of Tupac performing onstage long after he passed away…
The Sun’s TV Biz reports, “And to make the privilege even more special, PRISCILLA PRESLEY personally granted permission.
“Elvis’s ex-wife spoke to the singer and asked her to make a case for the honour — which she delivered in style.”
If the bizarre duet happens, it’ll mean Susan is the first British artist in recording history to use Elvis’ vocals posthumously on a record.
A music industry source said, “Priscilla asked Susan in person why she should be given the honour…
“Susan gave a heartfelt speech about how much it meant to her family, and how Elvis was her father’s idol.
“It must’ve worked.”
It seems that Susan – who’s recently wrapped up filming for festive flick The Christmas Candle – wants to use The King’s voice to record a rendition of Christmas hymn Oh Come All Ye Faithful, which will feature on her new album, Home for Christmas, which is out on November 25.
Susan told the paper, “Christmas is still my favourite time of the year…
“And to be able to put a unique twist on classic Christmas songs is truly wonderful.”
She added, “To sing with Elvis, well I didn’t think it would be possible.
“Isn’t technology brilliant? I grew up with Elvis. My father was a huge fan…
“So to be able to duet with him on a track on my own album, well, my father would be so proud.
“This song is for him and his love of Elvis.”
The paper’s article adds, “The King’s estate has released several recordings of duets before, but never allowed his voice to appear on another artist’s album.”
We’ll keep you posted on this story as we hear more, but for now, here’s a look at Susan in a stunning performance of Christmas songs…
