Susan in Malta
Hi Susafans,
Well, what a day I had yesterday (18th). My friend Rhona, who lives in the apartment above mine, came with me to Sliema. This is a holiday and shopping town looking across the harbour to Valletta, the capital of Malta. Susan is staying at the Palace Hotel and we had no idea where it was! A kind Maltese gentleman gave us directions and it was about a 15 minute walk.
I had written a letter to Susan accompanied by a poem I wrote three years' ago. I asked the Reception staff if they could deliver it to her suite (I had already established she was in). Rhona and I wended our way to the bar and armed with a bottle of wine we sat around in the lobby talking and watching the corridor leading to the lifts. Everyone was smiling at us (did we look strange)?
We were prepared to wait for however long it took (it was about 4 pm) but just as Rhona vanished in the toilet, Susan appeared with her two friends. I put my hands to my face in disbelief and stood up. Susan opened her arms and I went and received a huge hug. She thought my poem was beautiful and said she remembered me from the Balbairdie in Bathgate. She suggested that I put all my poetry into a book and get it published. I said I was but getting published was easier said than done.
Forgive me for forgetting Susan's friends names, but when Rhona came back we were all talking together. I know one was Lorraine's sister and the other lady was a sister-in-law of someone.
Susan told me she had been to Valletta and into St John's Co-cathedral which is where all the Knights of St John are buried. In my letter I had mentioned that I lived opposite a tiny island where St Paul was supposedly shipwrecked in 60AD. He brought Christianity to Malta which was under the rule of a Roman General, Plubius. She was so impressed with Malta and I asked her if she was thinking of doing a concert in the future and she replied it was something to think of!!!!!
Susan and her friends went to Gozo today (our smaller sister island) which I am sure they will enjoy. You have to get a ferry which takes about half an hour. The weather is just nice at the moment, breezy but warm. Susan and her friends return to Scotland on Saturday.
I found her so easy to talk to and she was so complimentary to me, and so were her friends.
I have a couple of photos but because of my lack of computer knowledge, have been unable to download them. I have read C.Bill's instructions too but nothing seems to happen.

Oggles wrote the poem (below) that she presented to Susan
WHEN HEAVEN TOUCHES EARTH
The insecurities of life
Are hard to understand
When other people give you strife
And think they have the upper hand
But they are wrong
The tears and the frustration
To try and prove your worth
To bring into fruition
And move heaven onto Earth
But you are strong
And heaven onto Earth you came
An angel in disguise
You won our souls, you won your fame
With open honesty, no lies
A Lady with a song
