Photographer-Ian Georgeson Susan Boyle has been announced as a judge at competition.

Organisers of the West Lothian Schools Has Talent competition have scored a coup, arranging for Blackburn’s own Susan Boyle to sit on the judging panel.

The annual competition, which this year takes place on Friday, June 20, in the Marches marquee at the rugby club will see every school in West Lothian competing for the coveted title and an amazing prize - a trip to Texas!
The Grapevine West Lothian Twinning Committee, which has organised the talent show in a similar format to the programme which launched Ms Boyle to stardom, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, is delighted to have secured her services.
This year’s winners will accompany the twinning committee on its annual visit to the USA.
The talent show will see Linlithgow Academy band, ‘Long Way Home’ competing for the top spot.
The band, which comprises 15-year-olds Andrew Campbell and Gregor McAdam with Mary Nicol and Eve Dalgety, who are both 14, recently appeared in the Battle of the Bands competition in Bathgate, where they made it through to the finals, to be held on June 17.
Their chosen composition, ‘Fall’, a song penned by the group members, will see lead guitarist Andrew play with a broken arm necessitating him attempting to play his guitar upside down.
There’s nothing like ‘the show must go on’!
West Lothian Council’s Provost and twinning committee member Tom Kerr said: “I am delighted that we have managed to secure the services of Susan to help judge this competition.
“She is an extremely busy lady and for her to give up her time to come out on a Friday evening is something we appreciate.
“I’m sure the competitors will be spurred on to give it their best shot in front of such a huge celebrity.”
The West Lothian Grapevine Twinning Association was established in 2008 to foster friendship, and hospitality between West Lothian and the city of Grapevine in Texas.
The competition starts at 7pm, but the audience are asked to be seated by 6.30pm.
Tickets, priced £7 each for adults and £3 for anyone under 16 are available at Far from the Madding Crowd bookshop, High Street, Linlithgow. Tel 01506 845509 or email: jill@maddingcrowdlinlithgow.co.uk
