My reply from Lynne Russell of QMU

Hello Grace

What a lovely letter. You have really made my day and I have shared your kind words with a variety of staff at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh who will very much appreciated your comments.  This is indeed exciting times and we are all really looking forward to our graduation ceremony next week. Susan really has touched the lives of so many people and it is wonderful to be able to honour her in this way.

I did watch the TV programme ‘An Unlikely Superstar’ so I must have seen you. I’m going to have to watch it again now.

Anyway, Grace, thank you for taking the time to write to us. It means a lot to us to know that people are appreciative of the University’s decision to award an honorary degree to Susan. I’m sure there will also be lots of pictures to commemorate the occasion.

Kind regards

Lynne

Subject: Honor for Susan Boyle

Dear Lynne Russell,

I am thrilled that your University is honoring Susan Boyle by giving her an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of her contribution to the creative industries.   Well Done!  Susan has inspired millions of people all over the world.  She has given courage to many who seem to be forgotten by society.  She has contributed to numerous charities and events.  She is always considerate to her fans and anyone who approaches her.   She has overcome and raised above sever bullying against her, even today. There are not enough words to express how I, and many of my fellow fans, feel and care about Susan Boyle. Your university selected the right kind, caring and compassionate super star.  Edinburgh's Queen Margaret University must be commended for honoring this brilliant, marvelous and thoughtful super singing star.

I am a senior fan in the USA, who absolutely loves Susan.  I have been following Susan since I saw the BGT 2009 video.  I went to the Today show twice in New York just to see and hear her sing. I belong to the fan sites and fan groups dedicated to Susan.  I keep three blogs on her activities and tribute videos.  I, and 19 other fans, had the privilege of meeting Susan Boyle in person on August 20, 2011 in New York.  Each fan was given time with Susan to have something signed or simply just talk with her.  I had my fan T-shirt signed by her (while I was wearing it). This action is on her TV special " An Unlikely Superstar".  I saw with my own eyes what a sincere, kind, compassionate sweet little lady Susan is.  As I said, I am thrilled seeing your grand honor bestowed on Susan, who definitely deserves the recognition of her achievements.  Thank you.
