Regal Theatre open day is huge success

THE Regal Community Theatre in Bathgate held an open day on Saturday as part of a big push to promote and raise awareness of the facility within the community.
The day was a resounding success with the many visitors being treated to fabulous music and performances throughout the day and a huge craft fair with some amazing stalls.
Nikki McDonald, who works with YAP Music, an organisation for young people in West Lothian interested in music, sang and played guitar beautifully in the Cafe Bar while REM tribute band, ‘Driver 8’ played a selection of the songs they will be performing at their concert at the Regal on Friday, August 17.
A delighted Erin King was presented with her prize for winning the ‘Design Cinderella’s Dress’ competition.
There was face painting, balloon art, badge making and pebble people making for children, as well as an upholstery demonstration with Colin Johnson.
On stage the Millennium Stage School performed excerpts from films and musicals and poetry readings could be experienced in the Cafe Bar later in the afternoon.
Bathgate Youth Theatre took part also and amongst a host of other activities there was yoga for adults and ‘hooping’ for anyone over ten.
Volunteers dressed up as Cinderella, Charlie Chaplin, a fairy and other guises which really brightened up the day – and there were many other events and participants.
Homemade soup and cakes were available in the Cafe Bar, along with light meals and snacks, proved very popular.
The new manager at the Regal, Stephen Darroch, Artistic Director, Scott Kyle and Regal Board member, Charles Earley, were absolutely delighted with the public turnout and the undeniable success of the event.
Due to great success of last year’s Showcase at the Regal, which was supported and attended by Susan Boyle, the Regal, in conjunction with the Bathgate Music Festival, are pleased to announce a further Showcase to take place on Thursday, September 6.
Open auditions will take place on Tuesday, July 3 and Wednesday, July 11 from 7 till 9 pm.
The auditions are open to all ages, soloists, groups and schools.
Anyone who thinks they have a talent, and would like to take part in this exciting production, can contact the Regal for an audition sheet on 01506 630085 or e-mail boxoffice_regal@btconnect.com
