Miss Scotland and Gandhi’s grandson star in New York

STUNNING Miss Scotland Nicole Treacy was the Big Apple of everyone’s eyes as she rocked the catwalk in New York yesterday.
The 24-year-old beauty from Paisley strutted her stuff at Stage 48 nightclub in the city’s Hell’s Kitchen at the launch of Tartan Week 2013.
Nicole dazzled in a show-stopping tartan gown by top Scots designer Gwen Russell Couture and stunning Glenisla kilts.
But she wasn’t the only one setting the heather alight at the annual From Scotland With Love charity fashion show. Former Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi’s GRANDSON Arun, 78, made his catwalk debut in a tartanKILT.
Nicole laughed: “He looked brilliant and I was in absolute awe of him when I realised who he was.
“I know of Gandhi through history lessons at school and his grandson has carried on his legacy of international harmony.”
But the Gandhi kilt wasn’t any old plaid — it was the debut appearance of a new world peace tartan, inspired by the Dalai Lama’s visit to Scotland last June.
Sporting a traditional kilt jacket and plain shoes, Arun — whose grandfather’s advocacy of non-violent protest helped India gain independence in 1947 — walked down the catwalk to Susan Boyle’s version of Les Misérables classic I Dreamed A Dream with barely a dry eye in the house
