Susan Boyle’s Blackpool show set for global broadcast
Singing sensation Susan Boyle is to make her only appearance in England this year in Blackpool – an event that will be broadcast to a global audience.
The star, who found fame on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, is heading to the resort on Sunday, September 8 for two Susan Boyle and Friends variety performances at Blackpool Opera House, reports the Gazette.
The shows will be recorded and transmitted live to cinemas across the world, including in China, Japan, the Philippines and Australia.
A major coup for the town, people in America are already putting in their requests for tickets.
The event is the result of a partnership between Blackpool promoter Tony Jo and the star’s brotherGerry Boyle, who owns Instant World Variety.
“I have a long affection with Blackpool, having been going since I was 19, and have always had such a great time,” Mr Boyle said. “Susan has said she would love to do something in Blackpool after the people of the town were so lovely when she visited for the unveiling of her waxwork at Madame Tussauds.”
Mr Jo, who has secured variety performers including comedians Billy Hunter and Roy Walker and musician Andy Prior for the show, said:
“We are very proud to have Susan on stage with us. She is the biggest star on the planet performing in the biggest theatre on the planet. This is fantastic for Blackpool, wonderful for the Opera House and will be a terrific event. It’s one of the biggest I’ve ever been involved in.”
Tickets are available now, priced between £35 and £49.50.
