Easy does it! Susan Boyle struggles to catch her breath as she plays the bagpipes
SHE may be Scottish born and bred, but it seems that playing the bagpipes doesn't come naturally to Susan Boyle.
The 52-year-old singer was pictured launching the British Pipe Band Championship in Bathgate, West Lothian, today and even had a go at playing the instrument herself - but not without a struggle.
Whilst desperately trying to catch her breath as she blew on the blowpipe, Susan pulled some rather funny faces but this didn't put her off as she continued to try and play a tune.
The Britain's Got Talent star looked very patriotic in her red and blue tartan jacket, which she teamed with navy blue trousers, a matching top and low heels.
As she attempted to play with the band, Susan was made Chieftain by one of the young boys as he placed his black hat on her head.
The Grammy-nominated star said she was "gobsmacked and honoured" to have been given the title and seemed to really be enjoying herself as she launched the championship.
Susan, who has sold 19million albums worldwide, will kick off her latest UK tour in March, but it seems that her fame and fortune has come at a price.
Last week it was revealed that her earnings have torn her family apart and that she feels helpless over the bitter rift.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mirror, Susan's brother Gerry said: "It is a really nasty situation and lots of people have been very hurt over the years.
"Susan is stuck right in the middle of it and it breaks my heart seeing her so upset. But the reality is that the family is now so broken I don’t know if we’ll ever get it back.
"I would do anything for Susan – she’s my little sister. I want her to be happy and at the moment she is not. But there is nothing Susan can do to make this right. Maybe no one can."
