Susan Boyle has thrown herself into the spirit of the Commonwealth Games, enjoying the honour of running with the Queen’s Baton yesterday (July 21).
The Scots singing sensation pulled on her trainers and striking blue tracksuit to take the baton to Yorkhill Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
And Susan clearly loved bringing a touch of Commonwealth magic to the delighted faces of the kids, as she sat with them, chatted and gave them the chance to touch the iconic baton.
She told STV news: “They won’t get to enjoy the games like other folk will, so I like to think I’ve brought the Commonwealth Games to them. They were very excited and I think I made their day.”
Running with the baton isn’t Susan’s only involvement in the Commonwealth Games.
The Britain’s Got Talent runner-up is getting ready to perform at the Opening Ceremony tomorrow night, where she has something special up her sleeve for the momentous occasion – a song she believes will be fitting for her Scottish fans.
Susan said; "I am really looking forward to being a part of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. It was a great honour to be asked to perform and be a part of these games in my home country of Scotland. You'll have to watch the opening ceremony to see the song we chose for this occasion but I think it will be one my fellow Scots approve of."
With an estimated global television audience of around one billion people, Rod Stewart is also set to perform, alongside singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald, violinist Nicola Benedetti and Gaelic-language singer Julie Fowlis.
It’s certainly going to be a spectacular evening of entertainment and exciting few weeks in Glasgow. Bring on the Games!
