Susan Boyle on song for Barclay

Susan Boyle's win at Ascot Park yesterday lifted the spirits of her trainer Kirstin Barclay.
She was to drive the mare in the Cue TV 110 Pace, along with Neat N Petite in the www.southlandharness.co.nz Pace. But a bout of flu and a sinus infection forced her to leave the course after race one.
''I felt really guttered when I wasn't there (for the win),'' Barclay said last night.
Tisbury trainer Tom Kilkelly and his staff harnessed Susan Boyle for yesterday's maiden race. Kilkelly and Barclay own the Falcon Seelster mare with Ray Fidow and Jo Sheat, of Dunedin.
Kilkelly was also looking after Christchurch pacer Borntobeanartist, who won the Happy 18th Courtney Dempster Pace. The 4-year-old Artsplace entire returns to West Melton trainers Paul and Graham Court today.
Mosgiel trainer Alan Clark was delighted with The Fiery Ginga's fresh-up win in the Not Just Shoes Discretionary Handicap Trot.
''It was a tremendous run first-up.''
