Dallas Review from Amy Wells
So here it is, from a proud Aunt of Candace Lee, and friend of Tom Newman, and Eric Newman as well as a huge fan of Susan. I just got home from watching the movie at the Dallas Premiere. There was such a wonderful turn out, that they had to open a second theatre.
Before the film started, a man got up and talked about how we, as fans can help to spread the word about the movie. We can literally get as many people as we know to go see it opening weekend, Nov 22nd in America. A good turn out, opening weekend will determine how many more theaters open it, on the following weekend. I had no idea, that the movie business was like this, but now that I know, I am asking everybody i meet, to go see it on the 22nd.
Now to what we have all been waiting for: Spoiler Alert.................. Right away, I was drawn in to each character. Again, as I often say of Susan, even in her character, they wrote in her true pureness. She was sweet and beautiful in every scene. She was in the movie a whole lot more than I realized she would be. There is a scene where she was sitting alone in the church singing, "There are miracles all around...." and Hans Mattheson came in and sang with her. It was such a beautiful and tender moment between them. (I wont say too much here, so I won't spoil it so badly.) We all know Susan's pure voice, but Hans is quite the singer himself.
Much of Susan's acting was in her eyes. It was as if you could see deeply into her heart. A sweet nod of the head, told a story. I was truly impressed with her acting, for it being her first acting part. Samantha Barks did a great job, as did each and every character. There were some tear jerking scenes, and some hilarious scenes.
My brother made some great comments after the movie: Pat said, "My rib cage wasn't large enough to hold my heart as it beat so big, and my eye sockets, couldn't hold my tears. I was really moved by this movie." The movie makes you want to sing along.
I didn't think I could love Susan more than I already did, but after seeing her in this movie, she raised the lid on my love and admiration of her. Susan Boyle is an actress now too.
