Celebs have joined women's charities to get people talking about domestic abuse
Cosmetic giant Avon are calling on the public to take "shhhhselfies" to raise money for domestic abuse charities.
The #wallofsilence campaign, which is a partnership with Avon, Refuge and Women's Aid, hopes to get people talking about domestic violence. The way it works is simple. Participants take a selfie with their finger against their lips (known as a #shhhselfie), and post it online using the hashtag #WallOfSilence. Avon then donates a pound for every selfie tweeted.
Radio One DJ Fearne Cotton, TV presenter Caroline Flack and singer Susan Boyle are among the stars who have added their support to the campaign.
The campaign is the brainchild of Charlie Bailey who was herself a victim of domestic abuse.
She said: "My Wall of Silence campaign is about everyone in society coming together and taking a stand not only against domestic violence but the fact that we are not talking enough about a crime that kills two women in the UK every week.
"I hope you will show your support by uploading your picture and joining us in standing up for women everywhere. Women like me. Women like you."
