Susan Boyle talks openly about living with Asperger’s syndrome
Susan Boyle – Has recently opened up to the national media about how life is for her living with Asperger’s syndrome. Susan now aged 53 was diagnosed only a few years ago. She was labelled as a young child as having brain damage and was bullied at school.
Now Susan who is an international singing sensation after being the runner up in Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009, wants to help end the stigma surrounding autism.
She is currently on tour in America and has told that being on stage is where she feels safe and accepted as she is not judged.
In an article in the Daily Mirror she also told that she needs to see that people are not afraid of her, and that people with Asperger’s often put a barrier up:
“People with Asperger’s do put a barrier up because they don’t know how to trust people. I try not to. I want to let people in.”
Susan also spoke about her desire to adopt a baby on which we reported here.
We are also excited to learn that a film is being planned about her life and that Meryl Streep is being considered for the role, although Susan would prefer Julie Walters.
