Exclusive: Andrew Lloyd Webber reveals the passion he shares with Susan Boyle

The acclaimed composer and TV personality speaks about his affection for the Scottish singer and reveals what they have in common.
Andrew Lloyd Webber revealed that he and Susan Boyle share a passion in llfe – and it’s not music…The legendary composer - most famous for his musicals which includeCats - revealed that he feels a “great affection” for the Scottish singing sensation because they are both big fans of the Turkish Van Cat, known for its unusual love of water and swimming.
“…Susan Boyle I have a great affection for, because apparently she has a Turkish Van Cat, and I love Turkish Van Cats, so we apparently have something in common.”
Lloyd Webber added: “I think she’s got a terrific voice, a really terrific voice, she did a great version of Memory (from the musical Cats). And yes, I am a fan.”
Susan Boyle is well known for her love of cats, with the star often talking about her beloved pet Pebbles during interviews.
Lord Lloyd Webber was speaking to stv.tv while in Glasgow launching the search for Superstar, a new show in which he will find a theatre star who will perform in rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
Revealing a little more about Superstar, Lloyd Webber said: “One of the things my shows do I hope is that we develop people through the shows, and we help them find [talents] perhaps they didn’t know they had, and that I think is the joy of it all.
”We’re not a talent show which is all about, I don’t know, getting somebody on and slightly ridiculing them, we don’t do that. We’re about trying to find genuine talent, and even if there is just a little flicker I like to be able to develop that flicker.”
He also told stv.tv’s Gill Harvey what kind of performer he is looking to find for the musical.
“We’re looking for somebody who plays the role of Jesus who can hold a great big rock arena, we’re not talking about a theatre show here. It’ll be in te O2 [Arena in London] and it’ll actually play in Glasgow too.
“He’s got to be incredibly charismatic, that is obviously clear, he has also got to have a fantastic singing voice."

SuBo looks jolly with hunk Olly

Chart-topper Olly tweeted a picture of himself and Britain's Got Talent superstar SuBo, 50, after they met at his gig at Glasgow's SECC on Saturday.
The X Factor runner-up, who came second to Joe McElderry in 2009, is gearing up for the release of his latest single Oh My Goodness on April 1.
In the video for the song he is seen chasing a pretty girl.
But this time Olly, 27, who also co-hosts the Xtra Factor shows, was the one being pursued by Scots spinster SuBo, who was decked out in a furry tartan jacket Maybe she was thinking Please Don't Let Me Go — the title of Olly's last hit single. Or it could be Olly left SuBo feeling like her Heart Skips A Beat...

The picture below was taken at Targets in Boynton Beach, Florida. This rack was in front of the register and it was like that when I first saw it except for three other videos, which I happened to cover to make the rack look nice. Now isn't that better.

Theater Talkback: Betty Buckley on Why She Took on ‘American Idol’

Susan Boyle on "America's Got Talent" in 2009.Even Mr. Cowell, who dismissed “Broadway voices” for so many years as the toughest of judges on “Idol,” smartly recognized the universal appeal of Susan Boyle, who on “Britain’s Got Talent” sang a brilliant rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables.” With his endorsement, she has sold millions of copies of her albums since that famed first television appearance.

A Message From Susan- February 2012

21st February 2012
A Message From Susan- February 2012
Hello,
The past couple of weeks have been rather busy but also lots of fun.
I celebrated my dear friend Lorraine Campbell’s 50th birthday. She had a big party and a good time was had by all of us. It was lovely to see friends I hadn’t seen for awhile as well as dance the night away and really show Lorraine how much we all care for her and love having her as a friend.
Three weeks ago I threw a party for my family, friends and neighbours- it was to say thank you and show my appreciation for all their support and kindness over the last few years. It was a great night and we had a wonderful band and before I knew it I found myself up by the microphone singing three songs, my signature party favourites Whistle Down the Wind, Who I was Born To Be and I Don’t Know How To Love Him from Jesus Christ Superstar. We all had a great time and it was lovely to laugh and be with the people who have helped me along this incredible journey.
Apart from rehearsals for the musical I’m also focusing on my new album. There is something so exciting about working on a new project and entering unknown territory, I really enjoy this and the anticipation of getting back to my sanctuary in the recording studio and working with the talented Steve Mac. It’s a challenge to try out different songs and to be able to take yourself out of the comfort zone and experiment with new genres and different tempos and I am looking forward to it as soon as we can decide on songs!
One of my wonderful fans, Angel, a hugely talented singer recently auditioned for America’s Got Talent. I sent her a little video message to wish her all the best! I know that feeling of getting on the audition stage and I wanted to let her know that we are all behind her and rooting that she makes it through. I sincerely hope AGT say yes, they’d be daft not to!
On Tuesday, I was invited to St Augustines School in Edinburgh with Cardinal O Brian to support the charity work they do for SCIAF, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund. They pupils have raised a staggering £52,000 so far and for Lent are focusing on raising money for Southern India. It was a great morning spent with the pupils. I helped make pancakes and successfully flipped a few as well and also watched a dance class, which I ended up participating in! Although I have two left feet and am as dainty as an elephant it was still a giggle!
I will continue to try and update you all as regularly as possible- life is getting busier, but I’m not complaining as I really am enjoying all the opportunities on offer! I’m a very lucky lady.

Susan Boyle cooks up a storm for SCIAF

Susan Boyle, Cardinal Keith O'Brien and Bishop Emeritus Peter Moran of Aberdeen launch SCIAF's Wee Box, Big Change Lenten campaign on Shrove Tuesday
Global singing star Susan Boyle joined Cardinal Keith O’Brien to launch SCIAF’s Wee Box, Big Change Lenten campaign on Shrove Tuesday with a pancake master class at St Augustine’s High School in Edinburgh.
The popular singer and the most senior Catholic clergyman in Britain were joined by Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund president Bishop Emeritus Peter Moran of Aberdeen, eager school pupils and members of the media who watched them whisk batter and toss pancakes to help publicise SCIAF’s work.

SUSAN Boyle showed off her pancake-tossing skills in front of amazed schoolchildren today.
At the fundraising event in an Edinburgh school the singing sensation also revealed she was again giving up her beloved chocolate for lent, as she did last year.
SuBo and Cardinal Keith O’Brian, head of the Catholic church in Scotland,  showed pupils at St Augustine’s High School how to mix, cook, toss, serve and enjoy a pancake lunch ahead of of the Scottish Catholic Internation Aid Fund (SCIAF)’s annual fundraising campaign.
The drive calls on people to give up a favourite treat during Lent such as cakes, coffee or wine, put the money they save in a SCIAF ‘wee box’, and donate the proceeds at Easter to help the agency’s life-changing work in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
In April last year SuBo revealed she had made it through Lent without once indulging in sweets or chocolate.
The ‘Wee Box’ campaign starts tomorrow and runs until 6 April.
Speaking at the launch Susan said“SCIAF and its work with people living in poverty in developing countries is really close to my heart and always has been.  I’m happy that I’m now in a position to help them more than I used to be able to.
“It’s going to be really tough giving up chocolate for Lent again so it was great to tuck into a small feast with the young people today.  It’s been great fun and I know every penny raised from the Wee Box, Big Change campaign will help people in need.”
Cardinal Keith O’Brien, SCIAF’s Chairman, said: “SCIAF’s works in some of the most serious and difficult environments in the world but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a lot fun raising funds to support its work.
Cardinal Keith O'Brian looks on in approval as Susan achieves a mid-air pancake flip. Pic: SCIAF.
“Today’s launch with Susan and the marvellous young people of St Augustine’s will hopefully inspire more people to join the campaign and give up a wee treat during Lent, put the money they save in a Wee Box, and donate it to help SCIAF’s work!”
Philippa Bonella, SCIAF’s Head of Education and Communications, added: “Nearly one billion people still suffer from hunger and poverty in the world today and that is just not acceptable.  We can all play a part in changing this disgraceful situation.
“The Wee Box, Big Change Lent campaign is an easy way to raise vital funds so that people suffering from severe poverty and injustice can get the practical help they need.”

Susan Boyle is truly an amazing talent. And she can not sing that!
She is also the buzz today by showing that it has well prepared Cooking Pancakes Can not wait to see the Top Chef now!

The information below is from Wullawonta on the Forum  He is a close friend of the Boyle family and has met Susan.  He was in New York to greet Susan on the Today Show 2009

Just a wee bit of the History of His Emminence Cardinal Keith Patrick O'Brien.
He was a Curate in our Parish of Bathgate ( and said Mass in our home ), but was elevated to Bishop , then Archbishop of Edinburgh , becoming Cardinal very soon afterwards. A fine man with a great sense of humour , as I'm sure Susan will attest to. The two of them will have fun and a lot of giggles doing their work for the Wee Box Charity
