TV dream ... Elaine C Smith
SITCOM favourite Elaine C Smith has revealed she’d love to star on Strictly Come Dancing — to honour her late dad.
The Scot’s father Jim — who died in January aged 83 — was a keen ballroom dancer in his youth and loved watching the BBC show in his final days in a hospice.
And Elaine, 53 — Mary Doll in Rab C Nesbitt — reckons competing on Strictly would be a fitting tribute.
The actress — now winning rave reviews as Susan Boyle in her musical life story I Dreamed a Dream — said: “I’d like to do ballroom dancing.
“My father danced four nights a week and one of the things that kept him going in the hospice was watching Strictly.
“That would be the main reason for doing it — not because I think I’m Ginger Rogers.”
She also told how SuBo — who has a cameo role in the musical — has been thrilled by the “electric” audience reactions.
