Athletes, families and friends gathered in Royal Crescent in Bath today for a star-studded opening ceremony for the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games.

Susan Boyle travels with Lothian Special Olympics Team

Singing superstar Susan Boyle gave the Lothian Special Olympics Team a boost this morning – by travelling down with the team to the Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB) National Summer games in Bath.
And the majority of the team are from Midlothian and the international superstar travelled down with the athletes to support them as ambassador.
The team is made up of 50 athletes and 21 coaches from the Lothians area with 16 athletes from Midlothian. The head of delegation, Yvonne Anderson, is also a Midlothian Council sport and leisure coach.
