'Its not a Susan Boyle concert' Syco warn fans SuBo will only sing twice at brother's show
SIMON Cowell's record label Syco have confirmed that Susan Boyle will only sing two songs at an event which is being billed as 'Susan Boyle and Friends' and organised by her brother.
The 52-year-old singer is set to make a guest appearance at the 'Instant World Variety Gala' at the Blackpool Opera House next month, but her managers are keen to stress that it is not a Susan Boyle concert.
"Due to mounting confusion over the guest appearance Susan Boyle is making in Blackpool, we are writing to clarify the situation," a statement from Susan's spokeswoman read.
"Susan Boyle was approached by her brother Gerry to make a 'guest appearance' in his Blackpool 'Instant Variety Show' in September 2013 .
"She will be performing no more than two songs as a guest at the end. This is categorically NOT a Susan Boyle show, it is not part of the phenomenally successful live tour she just completed in Scotland, nor should people associate the two," she added.
"Neither Andy Stephens Management nor Syco / Sony Music are involved or associated with this strictly one off appearance."
We have never said this is a Susan Boyle show. Susan as a family member approached me and said she would like to appear to help get my variety shows off the ground.Gerry Boyle
The main reason behind the management's anger is the fact that Susan's name is being used to sell tickets for event which is being billed as 'Susan Boyle and special guests.'
However, Gerry has rubbished these claims, saying: "We have never said this is a Susan Boyle show. Susan as a family member approached me and said she would like to appear to help get my variety shows off the ground.
"Ever since then Andy Stephens and Syco have got their knickers in a twist about the whole thing. They have complained about the poster and the amount of songs Susan could sing," he added.
"They have got a bit of the Big Brother attitude when it comes to Susan performing on stage. There are other great acts performing at the show but Susan is going to be top of the bill."
Speaking of his sister's decision to perform at the variety gala, he explained: "Susan has said she would love to do something in Blackpool after the people of the town were so lovely when she visited for the unveiling of her waxwork at Madame Tussauds."
Blackpool promotoer Tony Jo, added: "We are very proud to have Susan on stage with us. She is the biggest star on the planet performing in the biggest theatre on the planet.
"This is fantastic for Blackpool, wonderful for the Opera House and will be a terrific event. It's one of the biggest I've ever been involved in."
