Few people made it through 2009 without hearing Susan Boyle's rendition of Les Miserables' "I Dreamed A Dream" -- after all, it was one of the most-watched YouTube videos of the year. But what most people found extraordinary about the video, besides Boyle's obvious talent, was the fact that, at age 48, she had never sung professionally before. Boyle grew up enduring intense bullying, and went on to work a kitchen job and take care of her parents after graduating. While she had always loved music and wanted to pursue it as a career, her familial duties held her back. But after making it to the final round of Britain's Got Talent in 2009, she landed a record deal and had the largest ever sales debut for a female artisteventually breaking global sales records -- all in her late 40s.
