'Show goes on' for Jubilee Pageant
Organisers of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant have said that there was "no way" the show would be postponed because of the wet weather.
They claimed the site in the private grounds of Windsor Castle was "in pretty good shape" despite the wettest April on record.
The Badminton horse trials were recently cancelled, with officials announcing that the ground for the equestrian competition was "totally waterlogged and partially flooded".
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had been due to attend the final day of the trials, which were to have run from Thursday to next Monday.
But Simon Brooks Ward, who is directing and producing the Jubilee Pageant, said: "We're in pretty good shape. We've got waterproof facilities on most of the site. Everything is up so the show goes on."
He added: "It's got to happen. There are so many people wanting to come to this event.
"We owe a commitment to the participants as well as, obviously, the principal guest, the Queen.
"It is going to happen. There is no way that this is going to fail."
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will attend the event, which runs from May 10 to May 13.
Singer Susan Boyle and entertainer Rolf Harris are among the 1,100 performers, while more than 550 horses will also be involved in the 90-minute theatrical show.
