Glitz and glamour marking Queen Elizabeth II's Jubilee celebration
(CBS News) LONDON - Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee celebration is picking up steam.
On Sunday night, performers from all over the world got together at Windsor Castle for the Diamond Jubilee Show.
"Six months after the Coronation in 1953, a marathon program of state visits started with Bermuda and went on to include 11 other countries," noted Mirren to mark the Queen's jubilee.
But 60 years ago, the 27-year-old Queen Elizabeth embarked on her first official world tour, in Bermuda.
Now - after six decades on the throne - the world has come to her.
Some of Britain's own best talent, including reality TV superstar Susan Boyle, was joined on the grounds of Windsor Castle by acts from across the commonwealth, the United States, and around the globe. In all, there were 800 human performers there to mark the occasion.
Not to mention 500 or so horses -- one of the Queen's special passions.
The festival set the stage for a glittering summer of Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The royal family really knows how to do pomp, and they'll be pulling out all the stops in the next few weeks with a huge program of public events.
But Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge weren't at Sunday night's show.
Kate went to watch her husband and his brother, Prince Harry, play polo in a charity match.
In the evening, they went to the Royal Albert Hall, where the British Olympic athletes were assembled.
The Diamond Jubilee isn't the only big event in London this summer. Of course, the Olympics are going to be staged here. So, the event at Royal Albert Hall was part of a countdown to the beginning of the games.
As usual, Kate made a total fashion splash in a rather daring, actually, teal dress.
