Scots comic Andy Gray unfazed as he is caught up in Superstorm Sandy
THE City Lights star said growing up in Perth prepared him for 'a wee bit wind and rain'.
COMIC actor Andy Gray has told how he got caught up in superstorm Sandy during a break in New York.
The City Lights and Naked Video star thought being “fae Perth” would prepare him for “a wee bit wind and rain”.
But Andy, 52, and partner Claire could only watch from their Manhattan hotel as Sandy wreaked havoc.
The star of the Susan Boyle musical I Dreamed a Dream said: “I was getting texts all week from worried pals who were watching the news back home.
“The subway was down and we walked down Fifth Avenue, where all the big stores shut up shop. It was eerily quiet.
“The plan to take a helicopter flight went right out the window.”
More than 90 people were killed in the US by Sandy, the largest storm in the country’s history.
Andy added: “It was a bit of an adventure for us but sadly people lost their lives in the storm.”
