SINGING sensation Susan Boyle has been in the Cotswolds to try her hand at acting.
The Britain's Got Talent star was at Stanway House to film period drama The Christmas Candle.
It is set in the 19th century and Susan could be seen on set at the location near Cheltenham wearing a bustle and long dress.
She told reporters she was wearing long johns underneath her costume to keep out the winter chill.
It is believed the Scottish singer will star as the wife of the church warden, played by James Cosmo, and will sing a hymn written especially for the film.
The 51-year-old, from Blackburn, West Lothian, said: "I can't believe I'm making a film. I'm very excited to be a part of The Christmas Candle.
"Everyone is a delight to work with. It's a fantastic experience to be part of the team.
"I'm really enjoying getting dressed in the period costumes and stepping back in time.
"It's very cold filming on location so I'm wearing long johns under my bustle."
Chris Dee, from Cotswolds Tourism, said her visit was 'gold dust' for boosting tourism to the area. He said: "This is the latest in a long run of television and film projects here.
"We are having a good run at the moment and she is very welcome of course.
"A visit like this is gold dust for us."
The film will also star Samantha Barks who shot to fame recently in Les Miserables and has just returned from the Oscars, as well as Sylvester McCoy and John Hannah.
It is based on a story by author Max Lucado and follows the legend of a village's beloved Christmas candle and the horror that plagues the village when it disappears.
