Susan Boyle: From ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ to feature films

Susan BoyleWhile we may still be waiting for the first “America’s Got Talent” start to sell millions of albums around the world (even if Terry Fator has a good gig set up in Las Vegas), the success story of Susan Boyle of the British version of the show still continues. Even with the recent Tom Hooper film in mind, “I Dreamed a Dream” has become equally synonymous with her as with “Les Miserables,” and she has sold more than ten million albums worldwide.
So now that she has conquered music (and she has done so without even winning her season of the talent competition), what is next for her? Apparently, it is appearing in feature films. The singer has been tapped to play a currently-unknown role in “The Christmas Candle,” a project that is set during the 1890s and revolves around many popular holiday themes as love, spirit, and giving. Samantha Barks of “Les Miserables” is ironically also on the project, as is “Game of Thrones” actor James Cosmo.
In a statement, here is what Boyle (who will continue to make music despite this foray into scripted fare) had to say about getting this opportunity after making some stage appearances in a musical based off of her life:
“Everyone on set is a delight to work with, and it’s a fantastic experience to be part of the team … I’m really enjoying getting dressed in the period costumes and stepping back in time, and although it’s very cold filming on location, I’m wearing long johns under my bustle.”
While Boyle preps for this new role, a new season of “Britain’s Got Talent” is filming audition rounds across Britain. The show will return to ITV next month in hopes of landing another international star … though it seems unlikely there is another Boyle out there. You can find out more about this new season by heading over to the link here.
