The man was preparing to watch the Scottish singer at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall before being taken ill and having to be carried out on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
According to the Manchester Evening news, audience members were asked to leave a section of the stalls as ambulance crews flew in to deal with the emergency procedure.
"It was a member of the audience who started the CPR," an eye witness told the local newspaper.
"Which was then taken over by paramedics, who arrived within minutes. I've literally never seen an ambulance crew arrive so quickly."
Susan arrived on stage 5 minutes later, with supporting act Lance Ellington taking to the stage and introducing her to the Manchester audience.
A spokesperson for Bridgewater Hall said: "We can confirm that an audience member was taken ill prior to the start of last night's performance.
"He received first aid at the scene and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The start of the performance was delayed by 5 minutes. We would like to thank audience members for their assistance and concern. We are unable to give any further information."
Susan looked lovely as she arrived on stage - unknowing of the distressing scenes that had happened before her arrival - in a glittering gown.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo ahead of the tour, Susan said: "I’ve always wanted to do my own show. I’ve chosen some of my favourite songs from past albums and also new songs that not only have I wanted to perform for years but resonate with me and I hope my fans will love.
"I’m really very excited, the show will be bigger and better than before and I can’t wait for the first show in Liverpool."
