Lest we forget the dramatic way Susan Boyle shot to fame some six years ago, there's a poignant refresher as she emerges onto the Bridgewater Hall stage.
As the Scottish superstar wiggles in the shadows of a spotlight, the immortal words of Simon Cowell ring out from that life-changing Britain's Got Talent audition that made her a global sensation.
"What's the dream?" he says.
"To be a professional singer," replied that now familiar Scottish voice. "I've never been given a chance before."
It took a TV talent show to give the dishevelled 47-year-old that chance, and now, six years on, she is undertaking her first solo tour.
It may have taken her that time to feel comfortable on stage, but her rapt audience ensure she knows it was worth the wait, leaping up for standing ovations throughout this show.
Her stage demeanour is still awkward and shuffling, but it only endears her more to the crowd.  She is certainly no hairy angel anymore, that wild greying barnet now sculpted into a sleek brunette chignon, while her stage outfits are dazzling diva in full length sparkling sequins, befitting of a woman now known as "SuBo" across the world.
But it's ultimately her voice that is the star - soaring effortlessly on this selection of tunes from musicals alongside emotional ballads.
She puts her own unique timing and interpretation on her songs, some working better than others.
It is spectacular on the likes of Unchained Melody and a stirring You'll Never Walk Alone at the finale - where she is backed by the impressive Manchester Show Choir.
And there is something truly magical in her take of the Rolling Stones' Wild Horses.
There's plenty of amusing banter from our SuBo too, with anecdotes about Pebbles the cat and Peter Kay along the way.  She even gets the audience dancing in the aisles for a belting River Deep and Mountain High at the finale.
The night just has to end though with I Dreamed a Dream - the Les Miserables song that started it all - and she jokes: "This next song got me into a lot of trouble."
As the crowd jump to their feet for their final standing ovation, I'm sure SuBo will agree it was all worth it.
