SB Bestdaily Film Review: Christmas Candle

BESTDAILY FILM REVIEW: Christmas Candle

Susan Boyle stars in an enchanting Christmas film that deserves to be a hit
Susan Boyle's role as the wife of a church warden is small but her sweet face, innocent giggle and enchanting singing only add to the Christmas magic of this feelgood film.

The story is set in the fictional Cotswolds town of Gladbury, where for 200 years, one family has made all the candles and - the villagers believe - an angel touches a single candle every 25 years. The recipient of this 'miracle candle' found their prayers were always answered.

When, in 1890, the candle-maker's son leaves the village, the new vicar introduces electric light to the church and the precious candle goes missing. So the ageing candle-maker and his wife give a candle to everyone in the church and they all hope and pray that theirs is the blessed candle.
The Christmas Candle
Susan Boyle is enchanting

On Christmas Eve, almost every villager believes they have received a miracle. A little boy's stutter has disappeared, another finds work, a grandchild is found and the new reverernd regains his lost faith.
Do angels exist? And can they every grant our Christmas wishes?

Well, it's nice to think that they might – even if it's just on Christmas Eve.

5 out of 5 for Christmas schmaltz.
