Singing sensation Susan Boyle wows crowd as nationwide tour gets underway
LAST night's Inverness show was the first of seven dates across the country with tickets for concerts in Edinburgh and Glasgow fast selling out.
CHEEKY impressions of Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden were just the icing on the cake for fans at Susan Boyle’s first solo tour date.
For two hours, Blackburn’s most famous resident swept them off their feet with stories, shimmying dance moves and that incredible voice.
From the moment they heard that now historic interchange with Simon Cowell during the intro, they were reminded of how far SuBo has come.
A standing ovation marked the start of the concert before she’d even arrived on stage. Standing there in her black sequins and white crepe shawl, she was a vision to behold.
The room fell so quiet you could have heard the proverbial pin drop before Susan said nervously: “Hello, Inverness. I’m really excited about being here this evening. This is my very first show and my very first town.”
Then came the voice which is surely heaven-sent. The purity of vocals were evident from the off with a touchingly beautiful rendition of On My Own.
Surrounded by a 10 piece orchestra, SuBo held her own and more all the way through to the encore, an emotional You’ll Never Walk Alone.
But it was her intro to I Dreamed A Dream that moved everyone to their feet. “Here’s a song that got me into a lot of trouble,” she said – and never have truer words been uttered ...
