Scottish actor Elaine C Smith has joined calls for more TV programmes to be made and cast in the nations and regions, claiming areas outside the capital are being neglected by commissioners who “went to the same public schools and live in the same part of London”.
The performer, who is best known for appearing in Rab C Nesbitt and who this month will play Susan Boyle in stage musical I Dreamed a Dream, told The Stage she would like to see more dramas from the regions, using actors who live and work in those areas.
